In questi giorni sta andando in onda in Italia l' ottava serie della serie tv "Un medico in famiglia". Ho sempre seguito le vicende dei protagonisti , la famiglia Martini di Roma, ma le ultime due o tre stagioni mi hanno perplesso non poco;oltre alle trame diventate piuttosto contorte e surreali, quello che davvero è cambiato sono i personaggi.
Il dott. Lele Martini è un medico di famiglia che lavora nella ASL Sperimentale di Roma come ce ne sono tanti ma nel corso delle serie fa una carriera folgorante:prima vola in Australia per effettuare importanti ricerche scientifiche, poi diventa professore universitario alla Sorbona di Parigi e quando finalmente decide di tornare ad esercitare la professione a contatto con i pazienti la vecchia ASL è diventata una moderna ed iper-selettiva clinica privata. E' interessante osservare come nelle prime serie la ricca suocera del dottore non perdesse occasione per apostrofarlo "mediconzolo" per il fatto che con una laurea in medicina si limitasse a curare gli acciacchi delle vecchiette. Quella che può sembrare solo una banale presa in giro in realtà insinua nello spettatore che ride la consapevolezza che - beh si dai fare il medico della mutua è da sfigati e si guadagna poco - e legittima il repentino passaggio di carriera che fa guadagnare al dott. Martini il rispetto e l' ammirazione del pubblico.
Ma...è il dott. Martini ad essere cambiato oppure è il pubblico - e quindi la società italiana- che crede in una figura diversa?Quanto sarebbe credibile nell' Italia del 2013 un protagonista medico di famiglia in una struttura pubblica? Dal mio punto di vista la questione è ben più complicata e richiederebbe una analisi più approfondita ma in sintesi credo si possa parlare di una doppia influenza.
Dieci anni fa (all' uscita della prima serie) l' ASL era ancora una istituzione discretamente autorevole e i medici che vi lavoravano erano rispettati e le cliniche e soprattutto gli ambulatori specialistici privati erano ancora rari e poco diffusi. Piano piano invece questi ultimi hanno soppiantato - e stanno soppiantando - le strutture pubbliche in fatto di immagine di affidabilità;e una fiction basata sulla realtà diventa di successo se il pubblico può identificarsi nei suoi personaggi oppure sviluppa una sorta di ammirazione per un personaggio di successo. Sul fronte sanitario oggi che cosa viene spacciato - con troppa superficialità a mio avviso - per eccellenza? Il privato.
Un semplice personaggio della fiction generalista può dire molto della società in cui questa fiction è prodotta e trasmessa ed anche di quando la tv e i suoi prodotti abbiano cambiato e stiano cambiando al nostra visione della società e dei bisogni.
Dieci anni fa il dott. Martini era fiero di rappresentare la ASL e di fornire un servizio pubblico oggi i direttori amministrativo e sanitario di Villa Aurora forniscono le migliori tecnologie a chi ha il portafoglio abbastanza ampio da poterselo permettere. Per tutti gli altri il caro vecchio medico della mutua effettua comode visite notturne a chi non può permettersi quelle a pagamento;nella fiction il gran direttore amministrativo in un impeto di bontà concede una giornata gratuita per tutti, e nella realtà?

In this days the Italian television is broadcasting the new season of the tv series "Un medico in famiglia" (in English "Having a doctor in the family"). I have always followed the adventures of Martini's family from Rome but the latest seasons really doesn't convince me ; despite of the less realistic stories and relationships , the thing that has really changed are the caracthers.
Doctor Lele Matini works in the ASL ( the Italian pubblic medical service - Local Sanitary Assistence) in Rome but in the different series he experiments a fantastic progression of his carrer: first he flies to Australia to became a researcher that he becames a professor at the Sorbonne , Paris and when he finally decides to work agan with his patients ASL has become an ultra modern private clinic. It is interesting to observe that in the first season doctor Martini 's mother-in-law often makes fun of him telling that working for the pubblic service is for losers and you can't eran much money. What seems only a joke suggests to the spectator that - yes, working for the pubblic health system isn' t the best you can acheive as a doctor- and so it legittimates Martini's carrer progression and lets the pubblic admire his charecter.
But...is doctor Martini's that has changed or is the pubblic - and so the Italian society - that trusts a different character? How polular could be in 2013 the doctor of a pubblic service? Of course the question is much more comlicated but it we can say that there is a mutual influence.
Fifthteen years ago when the firt season was released doctors who were working for ASL where trusted and respected as high professionals and private clinics weren't polular - they barely existed in small towns.
Day by day these privet clinic and ambulatories has become much more popular and now they are everywhere and - what's more important - private ones have worked to replace the pubblic ones in reliabily and professionality. A tv show that petends to recall normal life became successfull if depicts a character people can trust or see a model f success. Talking about healt, what is considered -but is always isn't- successfull? The private clinic.
A fictional charater can say much of the society and the country in which that show is produced and it can underline how tv and the things we see in it can change our vision of society and needs.
Ten years ago doctor Martini was proud to represent ASL and to give a public service and now the directors of Villa Aurora give the latest techologies to who is rich enough to pay a consistent bill. For the other doctor Martini's organizes noctural visits; in the show one of the directiors decides to dedicate a day to free visits. And in reality?
